iPhone World Cup app

Cupertino, California, 16th April 2010 – This year’s Number 1 sports download in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland App Stores, the 2010 World Cup App has gained recognition from Apple employees, industry adjudicators and iPhone users.

Due to its usefulness and timely creation, Apple has picked the World Cup Schedule app as a Staff Pick. It has also been selected as a finalist of the App Star Awards and can be reviewed at the App Star Awards website. The App Star Awards is a contest that highlights brilliant and innovative upcoming applications for the iPhone. The event draws submissions from around the world. This year’s group included over 80 applications from 20 different countries and was later reduced to 33 finalists including Mahango’s World Cup Schedule app.

Multiple users have posted positive 5 star reviews of the World Cup Schedule app such as “lcooper” who wrote, “I have downloaded a few apps to keep me as up to date as possible during the World Cup but nothing has come close to this one. It looks beautiful, is easy to navigate and has all of the information you could hope for. Rotating your phone into landscape mode adds goal difference on the group tables!”.

The app’s developer Matthew Vickery stated, “I built this app to help football lovers everywhere. I wanted to ensure that prior to the World Cup people could manage their diaries even when away from their computers and not accidentally agree with their fiancé to get married on a day their team plays. Also the World Cup is such a special event but there are many games and I knew that having access to live match updates, goals, results and standings while stuck at work or travelling would be invaluable to many soccer fans. I intend to write the same app for the Nokia and Google phones before the tournament begins.”
